The Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa recognizes that there are people who wish to help, but who either cannot volunteer or who wish to donate non-monetarily. We have provided here a wish List of items we would greatly appreciate to aid in the J.F. Norwood House housing initiative.

In Memoriam:  Jill-Frances Norwood - October 1, 1974 to April 23, 2003

As a community counselor and outreach worker with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa and the City of Ottawa’s Sexual  Health Centre, Jill Frances Norwood provided compassionate and non-judgmental services and support to homeless, marginalized and criminalized women.

Jill-Frances had a history with different Elizabeth Fry Societies and experience with other social service agencies in the areas of both housing and health.  She had a background in criminology, mediation and addictions, and was very committed to her volunteer work with Access to Education.  Her interests included making rustic furniture and building her log home with her beloved husband Stephen.

Jill-Frances’ sunny disposition and tireless efforts touched the lives of hundreds of colleagues and clients alike.  She will be remembered fondly for the impact she made and the profound commitment she displayed in all her work and relationships in our community.  Her legacy will live on in the naming of The  Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa’s J.F. Norwood House.
