When I started volunteering at Elizabeth Fry, I was hoping for the chance to make a small difference. What I got was the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of people at a moment when they are anxious or in crisis. Helping women at the courthouse has been tremendously rewarding

- An E-Fry Volunteer

I understand the difficulties and the struggles that women face when attempting to leave the streets and I empathize with them.  It’s overwhelming for women to have to change their entire lives, and very often this fear keeps them on the streets, involved in daily violence, addictions, and health issues.  I’d just like to get the message out to women that it is possible to access support from staff and peers, whether or not their choice is to leave the street.
